The Trap Called Christian Rap- Part 5
Posted in Blogs by Kingdom BuildersWe have determined in the previous parts that the Trap Called Christian Rap was the sad story of many rappers called to strictly evangelize, to step foot out of the church and witness to those outside of the church, but get side tracked by the success of rapping within the church. This becomes an extreme problem due to the fact that no one realizes this as a condition but Satan. Satan is completely aware of the power of rap, let alone the power of music himself being that he was God’s personal minister of music. Once again for media, gossip, and false witness purposes, I would like to elaborate on saying that this is in reference to rappers who are called to evangelize. This point has been made clear throughout the previous parts. From this point forward I would like to not only teach, but share what the Holy Spirit has illuminated to me as I read the completed revelation of God in this regard.
The first thing I would like to address at this point is the fact that there is a tremendous error that christian rappers partake in. This error is to the point where it must be said and needs to be corrected immediately. My prayer is for all that are actually doing this to take heed, only because I have such a strong heart for the lost. It seems that the majority of gospel rappers write lyrics that inform many about how to live for God. This meaning that they would include lyrics pertaining to the lifestyle of a believer, or how we aren’t supposed to do this and to do that. Lyrics would include as well how great it is to be living for God and how awesome life has become being that they have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Is this the error that I am talking about? Not by far. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this at all. We should be able to express, encourage, and edify the body of Christ. The error isn’t rapping about spiritual things. The error is rapping about spiritual things in hopes to evangelize. Edification and evangelism are two different things. To edify is to instruct or benefit, especially morally and spiritually. To evangelize is to preach the gospel to or to convert to christianity. In other words evangelism would be the practice before edification. The belief that lyrics that edify will have evangelism results is the cause for many people missing the gospel message through rap right now. The bible says to go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19). We can’t make someone something that we are not. So in essence, we are disciples. God is our Master (Matthew 6:24). To edify someone before you evangelize is to say that you can instruct them before they enroll in a class. This would mean that the person who listens to the instructions before enrolling in a college, would be taking non credit classes. Non credit classes only provide general knowledge and anyone can take them. The sad thing is that it isn’t beneficial to have the knowledge of the things in the class when a person dies, especially being that non credit courses aren’t recorded on your transcript. The part that is more terrifying than that is the fact that non credit courses don’t produce a degree, which in turn will never get you to your Masters. No one can get a masters without enrolling in the school first. No one can get to the Master without going through the Son. To accept the Son is to enroll in the classes and agree to the terms of studying and doing all the work required in order to meet the Master after graduation, which would come by death or rapture.
1 Corinthians 2:9-14 basically states that unbelievers can’t discern spiritual things. Verses 11 and 12 let us know that the spirit of man knows man and that the spirit of God knows God. The only reason that we understand God is because of the fact that as man and woman that have become believers, we have the spirit of God in us, which means we are connected to the only thing that knows God. The Holy Spirit is part of the Godhead and is a Person. Many people can tell you things about somebody that you have never seen before and upon belief that the report that was given by the person is accurate, we claim to know a person. We can’t always believe the report of everyone. Some people are biased and have mixed emotions. What better of an account can we get from someone who says not only do I know the person and can tell you all about them, but I know 100% about this person because I am this person.
